Maryland Wine, in Brief
Maryland's wine industry has grown quickly and now spans the Catoctin and Linganore hills of Frederick County, the horse country north of Baltimore, southern Maryland's tobacco farms and the flat, sandy Eastern Shore. The best sites in the Piedmont produce Bordeaux-style reds that stand alongside Virginia's.
The state also has one of the East Coast's strongest cider scenes and a cluster of urban wineries in Baltimore.
