Georgia Wine, in Brief
Georgia's wine scene splits in two. In the north, the Blue Ridge foothills around Dahlonega, Helen and Ellijay have become a genuine wine destination, with hillside vineyards growing vinifera and hybrids and tasting rooms with mountain views. Across the rest of the state, muscadine and fruit wines carry on the southern tradition.
The Dahlonega Plateau, designated an AVA in 2018, is the centre of the quality push and has attracted serious investment in Cabernet Franc, Petit Manseng and Norton.
